Cycling UK have put together an excellent guide explaining why it’s safer to cycle away from the edge of the road.
Cyclists are now taught to ride in the primary position and this may go against the position many drivers may think they should be cycling in. In the past cyclists were often told to be as far over to the left and as near to the kerb as possible.
